Summary: Al finds a new home, a slightly unusual one but still good
Piece by piece, Al arranged the unburnt remainders of his life together into some semblance of order.
He owl-ordered the necessities: socks, owl treats, boots for himself, boots for Septimus, seven sets of identical dress robes for each day of the week. He redirected all correspondence to his work address, all except for the Prophet delivery, which now went to his parents' house at Godric's Hollow and an identical set which arrived to Severus' lab. He prepared a rent contract for dad to sign, but didn't take the time to examine his old bedroom. He didn't plan to get much use out of it, just enough to counter any suspicions.
On the scheduled book cleaning day, he cast the necessary spells on Severus' books and spent the time petting the Compendium's pages. He prepared the salve for the book spines and covers which would protect them from the fire and included the application of such salve on the list of usual maintenance.
It wasn't that difficult, to gather the remaining pieces of his routine after it was so unexpectedly broken down. Al still had the spiders, which would remain in Severus' library. He had the Compendium, placed nightly under his pillow on the transfigured sofa. He had silence and peace.
Al had a home. The home where blue phial of Memorestore sat in the corner of the shelf, within easy reach and always in sight, where Severus was just a word away.
Speaking of home, there was another contract left to sign, to, hopefully, validate the usage of such home by Al in others' eyes and to ensure it will not get taken from him. It was a contract for the use of Severus' private research rooms in exchange for either money or services, something official to display after the Aurors at the gate caught onto the fact that he wasn't a spoiled son Apparating back and forth to Hogwarts grounds every other day just to bother his parents.
The role of a dedicated researcher might even be an easier one to play, in order to explain away the fact of Al overstaying his nightly welcome.
