Walden had been anticipating this night. The grand night when the Dark Lord would unleash them all on the remnants of those fools who called themselves the Order of the Phoenix. That this was happening at the school, with all those lovely innocents left unprotected. Why should the Carrows and Snape have all the fun, after all?
Of course, once they finally got within the walls of the castle and met the opposition, it wasn't quite as much fun. Pitched battle never gave one enough time to play. He only hoped there'd be some toys left to play with after the battle. Firing off another curse, he turned and was confronted with that hulking half-giant pet of Dumbledore's -- or rather, with the tree trunk arm of said half-giant.
Grunting as contact was made, Walden felt himself lifted off the ground and sent flying backward through the air...
...to crash into a solid wall of glass. Shaking his head, he had just time enough to realise it was and actual wall and not a window before he noticed the pair of shadows a short distance off across the...greenhouse? How the hell--?
He didn't have time to waste thinking about details. Somewhere there was a battle still going on. Two rapidly cast curses, two flashes of green light, cast almost negligently, and that put an end to what on second glance appeared to be a lovers' tryst. "Bad timing, gentlemen. Sorry to interrupt."
Spying a broom fallen to the ground near where the two he'd just killed lay, he grabbed it and mounted. As the broom rose, he blasted out a hole in the greenhouse roof, sending glass shattering around seconds before he shot through it into the night air.
A look back toward the castle as he swung around was enough to tell him something had gone drastically wrong with the attack. The grounds were quiet, no sounds of battle. The walls intact, when he knew they'd begun blasting them. Going back seemed like a truly bad idea for his self-preservation until he knew exactly what had happened and who had control of the school.
Flying as fast as the broom would go -- which was pretty damned fast! -- he put as much distance between himself and the school as he could. He'd find someplace to lay low, gather some news on what had happened, before deciding what to do further.
