"Go with twenty-one. Otherwise your brother will never let me forget that at twenty-eight I lost my virginity to a teenager!" Remus chuckled, though he had to admit the thought might be a little disturbing. "I always forget you're not closer to my age, in any case. I still think of you as being only a year younger." And the gods only knew Regulus likely had as much life experience of anyone Remus' age for all that his life had been cut so much shorter the first time.
As they arrived at the bed and breakfast, Remus gave the room an appreciative look, closing his eyes for a moment now just to hear the river. When he opened them again, he was smiling. It still amazed him that Regulus knew him so well. This was not a place his lover would have chosen for himself. But, it was definitely something Remus would have chosen. The land he thought of as his still just outside the room, which was clean and simple and comfortable.
He chuckled at the sight of the gift on the bed. He knew what it was, of course, since he'd given Regulus permission to buy it in the first place. Not that he wasn't still boggling slightly at spending so much money on a broom, even as he sat on the edge of the bed and began unwrapping it. He still thought Regulus spoiled him horribly -- priceless books, the library at the house, this broom, breakfasts and baths after the full -- but, he'd come to see it as part of Regulus' way of showing he cared and if the price tag occasionally made Remus' heart stop, it was worth it to see how happy the giving made Regulus.
Within some reason, of course.
Which was why he was grinning broadly when he finished unwrapping the broom and reached for Regulus so he could offer his thanks with a light kiss. "Thank you. Does this mean we get to go flying again despite having sent Sirius and James their broom back?"
