Chuckling, Remus took another moment to regard his lover's appearance with an appreciative eye. "I was raised in them," he said with a grin. "Also, the cousins of these," a wave of one hand indicated the trees behind them, "were my playmates as a child. Much easier to climb in denims than robes." Moving to stand behind Regulus, taking in the area as he tried to remember trails and paths, he lowered his voice to more private, intimate levels only Regulus would hear. "Besides, half the pleasure in seeing you in those clothes is imagining what you'll like later when they're half off you."
He'd held Regulus too often by now not to sense the momentary frisson of tension no one else would likely ever have noticed. Drawing back, he smiled apologetically. "Sorry. A little overwhelmed. In a good way."
For a moment, looking down river, he saw memories more clearly than reality . "Abercynafon is a bit south of here, near the Brecon range. I remember it was mid-summer when we came, so Mam and Tad and I were sitting a little down river of the falls, close enough to see them but far enough they weren't afraid I'd fall into a deep pool. It was late, but still only just dusk because of the time of year. Mam was telling stories of the legends connected with the area, how the waterfall is said to be the gateway between our world and what the ancient Muggles called Annwyn, the Otherworld, where spirits and sidhe are said to dwell. I was fascinated with the idea of coming up here some day at just the right time to see knights of old emerging from the falls."
"This way, then. There was a little clearing not far from here. Found it when I got away from my parents and went running through the woods on my own." Glancing back at Regulus, he found his own devil-may-care grin that seemed to be the right of a Marauder and tugged his lover toward the trees further up from the banks of the river -- after casting a couple quick charms to keep their clothes from snagging on branches as he led them off the approved paths. Leading the way, still hand in hand and going slowly as he was unsure of the footing ahead, it took only a short bit of time to find it. Of course, had he not spent years learning how to track and spending so much time in the woods during his travels, he never would have found it again. But, memory served him well enough as a guide and soon they were coming out of the trees into a very small, sun and shadow dappled clearing that showed no signs another human being had been through there in some time. Sheltered, it was not quite as windy here, though it could be felt and heard along with the late afternoon sun sifting through the leaves overhead.
Turning to Regulus once they'd come to the centre, he grinned more broadly. "Ready to close your eyes?"
