Scorpius pulled himself back again, taking his arm to lead him to the bed to sit. He reclaimed his place next to Lori. "I don't think my aunt is capable of learning manners, at least not any civilized ones. They live in a world of corporal punishment, even with dinner invitations. She is a freak of nature."
It was easier to talk about now, especially since those owls had done a wonder to lift his spirits. "She also thinks she is a fashion designer. The hair was her idea. She took off huge chunks everywhere. I don't know why but I tried to fix it. I liked it in my eyes."
He kept the smile even if it was an unpleasant memory. "These are great. What happened to the owls? Did they come back to you? They are brilliant. All these letters..." A lump caught in his throat. "Thank you." It took him a minute to get himself together. "What have you been doing? I feel like I have been gone for a year."
