Ariana's tone got Neville's attention quite quickly and his expression changed from morose to confusion and awe. Ashley had not told him that there was a note, and she really didn't go into any great length of detail about their Headmaster's death but... "Pardon?" Neville's voice was quieter than before, and he didn't even mean for it to be.
Neville let everything Ari said sink in while she was ranting about why it shouldn't be up for debate... Neville was too dumbstruck with the fact that Flitwick thought that much of him, and the pain he must have been in if he knew he was dying and had to write out instructions so quickly.
"I.. didn't know." This changed things a bit, now Neville wanted to be Headmaster, so he could prove that Flitwick had made the right choice. It was just then Neville realised what Ariana was talking about and they were looking at him. "Let them look... I've always been stared at for one reason or another anyway." Being serious, and yet trying to crack a joke.
"Does the Ministry know of this note that Ashley found, or are they disregarding it totally? If you know of course." At the same time Neville was trying to appear calm and steering the both of them to a quieter corner. He wanted to be informed so he knew what was to come and be better prepared for it.
