"Basically, yes." Alastor nodded. "If we can bring Hit Wizards in, then I'd say do it. It gives us more men on the taskforce without overly depleting either division. And the Hit Wizards were always invaluable in bringing in the lesser Death Eaters in my day."
He sat in silence while Potter scribbled out new options for division of the groups. As he had already made his case for the inclusion of a Potions Unit, he made no comment on those options.
The question of where to assign people was less easily answered. He would address the question of the girls first, while he pondered the question of his own placement.
"McKinnon's best area is Undercover work. Without a dedicated Undercover Unit, you'll want to put her in the Unit most likely to have some need of that skill and where her ability to be versatile will be put to best use." Of the options there, have to say that was either Major Crimes or, less so, Kidnappings. But, he wasn't going to be the hypocrite and discuss her direct placement behind her back unless he was going to be placed on the same unit and in charge over her.
"Vance's strengths are in the details, keeping track of them and seeing the patterns." Homicide or Major Crimes, he thought.
Neither woman was going to do well sitting around too much in Kidnapping. And all three of them were too good in combat to settle for Potions or the Support Unit. Not with what they were used to as a division from their day.
Which brought him to himself.
"McKinnon's not far off the mark," he said, though it galled him to admit it, all things given. "Homicide is likely where I would be best suited, it's closest to the work I've been doing in my time and where my record speaks for itself, I'd say." And it fed his need for danger and a challenge in the field the way most other law enforcement work would not.
