RP: Al, Snape Who: Al Potter, Severus Snape Where: Hogwarts, Snape's lab When: evening of March 4, 2025 Rating/Warnings: Summary: After a few days of avoiding Severus, Al concludes that his mum will just have to keep on disapproving.
Al did his best to understand the opposing points of view presented to him, and there was something in his mum's words that stuck in his mind and refused to let go.
The small chance that Severus may influence him.
With influence came surrender of control, and Al despised surrendering control over his life to others. Therefore, to determine whether Mum's words were true, Al did his best to confront the issue and evaluate it: by staying away from Hogwarts for a few days and examining the difference it made to his overall state.
There was, indeed, a difference. Al felt edgy and out of place. His thoughts kept straying to the last things they did or said together. Severus Apparated him outside. He told Al to get some sleep.
There was something else: without Severus, Al felt like a puppet, jerked back and forth as his strings were pulled by words from people he spoke to. Dad wanted Al to apologise to mum. Mum wanted Al to see Mandy. Mandy... kept pushing her way toward the tightened, elaborate knot of emotions Al usually kept away from his mind and under tight control of his logical self.
At the end, it was logic that told Al to halt his experiment and instead trace the un-yanked strings of his emotions to the source. It wasn't long afterwards until he walked through the door to Severus' private suite of rooms. Here, there were no strings and his hands and voice and mind were free again.
