"You're an idiot. You shouldn't have done it. It was wrong and improper and-" Marlene brushed his cheek, her fingers moving slowly over his jaw. "You shouldn't put yourself through that, Alastor. When are you going to learn to protect yourself?" She rested her head on his shoulder. "I'm going to have to stay alive to keep you in check, won't I? I'll be in that division, too. We do it together. We've done it all together, we get to live again, together." She raised her head smirking. "We'll even annoy Emmeline, even if she didn't do all of it with us."
She rolled her eyes. "I wouldn't... okay maybe I would just to see your face, but then I'd give you real food. I've never used my family name, and you know it." She wasn't the type and her mum had gone through enough for her to make fun of people because of their background.
She knew that he'd like the parchment more than the discussion. If it were anyone else, she might be insulted. With Alastor, it was routine. "They aren't included in the numbers, but really if you cut the security by half, which is doable, and get the numbers at Hogwarts redrawn, you get a large enough Support unit to double up as the Magical Law Enforcement Patrol since there is none anymore. They can deal with crimes and assigning their Aurors in support of other units as needed."
She laughed. "A war is a reason to celebrate life. People usually fuck more, and it's usually men's fault anyway. You know what the real problem is? The men with less stringent morals are scared of strong women and the men who aren't afraid of strong women are like... like you. It's really annoying."
