Lily had been wandering the gardens, savouring her achievements of the day before. She'd been tempted to continue to practice on a rabbit and a squirrel that had run across her path, but she hadn't wanted Fane to have to dispose of a trail of dead creatures and had settled for other hexes instead. They brought a more lasting sort of pleasure, anyway.
She'd just dropped a spider from a twig with a slim jet of green, and was tucking her wand away when she saw Rabastan approaching. Lily bit her lip, her hands clasping each other tightly; she kept hoping that she'd see him here and there, but hadn't. Not often enough to keep her from being just a little nervous when he came around, anyway.
"I'm well," she told him, standing a bit straighter as he closed the distance between them. "I hope you are. It's lovely outside. I just couldn't stay in." She smiled, nodding, pushing wild curls behind her shoulder.
