Funerals were starting to feel very familiar. Each one was nearly the same as the last, but it never got any easier. He hadn't know Gideon well, the other man had come back from the dead and barely had a chance at life again before dying. From what he'd observed he was a good Hit Wizard, and what had happened to him could happen to anyone.
He'd gone to the funeral for two reasons, as a colleague of Gideon's and as Audrey's cousin. So he wasn't surprised when she came over to talk to him, and though this wasn't the ideal place to talk to her about things, watching three people he'd known be buried made him realize he didn't have time to hesitate.
He smiled as he hugged her back, and pondered how he should answer. "I'm okay," he finally settled on saying. "Been doing a lot of thinking, and before you start I'm not dying."
