He heard people arriving and Disapparating around him, but he didn't stop. If he did, he would turn around and see his father, no the body. It was the body now. His father was gone. His wife was gone. Their homes were gone.
He kept spraying water from his wand into the fire, but the house kept burning. It would burn until there was nothing left. There was nothing left. Not any more.
And then Fred was there, his twin. He felt the hand on his arm, and it was suddenly so heavy. He lowered his wand, and turned to look at Fred, unaware that tears were streaming down his face.
"Angie," he gasped out. "She's gone. I couldn't save her. And Dad." He finally looked over where the body was lying, cold and alone and face forever frozen in death. "Dad's dead, Fred. He's dead."
