Who: Ronan, Ben
Where: their new home
When: 11 February, 2025
Rating/Warnings:
Summary: Ronan and Ben move to their new home.

Ronan had a day off, which was rare because with all the fugitives, the werewolves and now Potter, they were all putting in more hours that it was healthy. Usually, Ronan wouldn't have minded sacrificing another free day to help out, but today was different. Today they were moving into their home.

It wasn't that he didn't like Garden Court. He liked the people, but it was worse than sleeping in Knockturn Alley or King's Cross. There were always people moving in and out. He hated living like that.

Now, they were moving into their own home. It didn't really take long. They didn't have so much to begin with. Ronan's possessions fit in three duffle bags now, Ben's furniture they go from storage and magic made things easier. Ben's instruments were really the one thing they had to worry about. Once those were set, most of their work was really done.

Ronan turned to Ben as they surveyed the music room. "Not perfect, but we can fix the rest later." He put his arms around Ben and kissed him. "How does it feel to be living without all those people?"

They were finally moving! If he hadn't spent most of the last week packing and organizing his instruments for the move, he wouldn't have believed it was finally happening. But he'd spent most of the last week in a happy daze, practically dancing around as they finalized the placement of furniture and finished the last little details that needed fixing.

And now they were home! He grinned at Ronan and looked around the room with a sense of ownership and pride. "It's different," he said finally. "I mean, I lived alone for three years before moving into Garden Court but this is different. Good different."

He leaned up for the kiss, trailing his fingers over broad shoulders, before twining into the dreadlocks at the back of his neck. "What about you? Glad to be away from nosy flatmates and sticky children?" Ben liked Toby, and had great fun with him, but he couldn't deny it was tiring after awhile, and he was always glad to pass him off to Jamie or Allison.

Ronan laughed. "You wouldn't have known it considering the chaos at Garden Court." He leaned closer. "I actually remember your place. People were coming in and out, no wards, no closed doors. It was worse than Garden Court. At least there was something resembling security at Garden Court."

He didn't even pretend not to like this. "Oh God, yes, especially the kid. I mean I like him enough, but I'm already dealing with you," he teased. "I don't need more children. I want some peace and quiet, and I want to be able to sit and talk to you without a kid running around, or people coming and going. This is... nice."

"I liked company," he said, snickering a little. Looking back, he could freely admit that his security had been severely lacking. Luckily, he knew better now and their new house was perfectly safe. Or as perfectly safe as Ronan could make it. "I like your company best." He kissed him again, biting softly at his lower lip.

"Toby's cute and well behaved, and most importantly shows signs of talent at banging on the drums, but at least here we don't have to worry about him walking in on us naked," he said, laughing a little.

He sighed and rested against Ronan, eyes closing as he swayed back and forth a little. There was no music, except what was always in his head, but that didn't matter. "Mmm, this is very nice. No one asking what's for dinner, or playing those loud games on the television. I can get used to it."

"Do you know what's the best part of having no company?" He didn't give him time to answer. "That we can have dinner on the couch, make out there, and even have sex there without having to worry about company showing up."

He snorted. "No four year old is well behaved. They simply can't be well behaved. It's not in them because they have no concept of social norms."

He grinned. "Well, I'm not asking, because I know what's for dinner. It's called takeaway, it's in containers, and it's in our kitchen. I got dim sum, so you can pick and choose, don't need forks." He kissed Ben again, sighing against his lips. "I've been a lousy boyfriend. I'll make it up to you; I promise."

"Mmm sex on the couch," he said dreamily. "Haven't done that in awhile." He grinned and kissed Ronan again, promising more for later. They had all night. All weekend really, when neither of them were working.

"They want what they want when they want it, and throw tantrums when they don't get it," he agreed, though so far he hadn't seen Toby throw any tantrums. Granted, he hadn't spent as much time with him as Jamie had. ANd really, why was he thinking about a four year old when he had a sexy boyfriend and multiple rooms to Christen.

"Such a smart man," he said, rewarding Ronan with a kiss. "Let's go to our kitchen then, shall we?" Ronan kissed him again, and as always he wanted more immediately. "You're not a lousy boyfriend. You explained to me about your job when we started this. Despite recent behavior, I do understand. I love you, and that means accepting your job and everything that comes with it."

He pulled back and grinned up at him. "But if you really want to make it up to me, I'm sure I can think of something. Or you will. But you don't have anything to make up."

"Mmm, yes indeed," he said, grinning. "There's a lot of things we haven't done... actually we've never done sex on the couch. There were always too many people around." It would be nice to have privacy and the ability to do what they wanted without worrying about others.

He took Ben's hand while he he walked toward the kitchen. "It's been crazy and with Potter sick, who knows when things will go back to normal, but I have. It was easy to stop doing things, because I knew there were people there, and you wouldn't be alone. Things are going change as much as I can."

"We'll just have to change that then. And possibly sex in the kitchen, bathroom and backyard as well. Though we can wait until summer for that. It's cold out now." It was going to be one of the best parts of living here, not having to hold back the desire until they were alone. Just one of the many, many perks of living with one's boyfriend.

He grinned as Ronan took his hand, and laced their fingers together as they walked. "It's part of being an Auror in time of war," he said, far more pragmatically than he really felt. "And it's part of being an Auror's lover. I can handle it Ronan, I don't need you to change. I just need you to always be honest with me, even if that means telling me you can't tell me anything."

Ronan snorted. "Yes, no garden, because even with warming charms I don't want to lie on the snow." Leave it to Ben to actually want to try, but Ronan wasn't giving into this one.

"I know all of that." He also knew that it'd been easier to volunteer for the extra shift, or working overtime when he knew that Dale or Dylan or James would be there to keep Ben company.

"Want to bring everything in the living room?" he asked as they reached the kitchen. "We can watch something on TV, and there's a couch, too."

"And this is why you're the practical one in this relationship," he said with a cheerful grin. "But I'm going to hold you to that this summer. Just you wait." He didn't really think he'd have to work too hard to convince Ronan, as long as there wasn't snow on the ground and it was reasonably warm. Or maybe raining. Fucking in a summer rain had always been a fantasy.

"And if you have to work some extra shifts, just let me know. We have those nifty mobiles we never use. I can take myself down to the pub for an evening, or over to Garden Court for a visit as long as someone is there to open the Floo."

He nodded at the suggestion, quickly gathering plates while Ronan got their drinks. "Sounds perfect. I vote for reruns of Doctor Who. It's always on."

"Of course. Figuring out that fucking in the snow is so hard to do. Only a genius like me could do it," he answered, laughing. "Don't worry, as long as there's no snow, we're fine... or the full moon because that would be so very wrong for so many reason."

Ronan nodded. "I will. We'll adjust to this, and we'll figure out something so you aren't here alone."

He helped moving things to the living room. He opened the different containers of Dim Sum and left them on their coffee table. He sat on the couch, one foot under him, and then summoned the remote. He turned on the TV and flipped through the channels until he found Dr. Who. "There now eat something before it cools."

"You should write a book. 10 Places Not To Fuck, And Why To Tell Your Lover, or something," he teased. He loved Ronan's laugh, could easily be addicted to it. "And let's not even go there. I still do want to see you as a wolf. But no fucking will be going on."

He grinned, and kissed him again. "I have Bob, and the music. And it's not as if I'm a prisoner here. If I get lonely, there are plenty of places to go if you're not going to be home soon. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. I am fine, brilliant even." He wondered how often he'd have to reassure Ronan of that.

He curled up on the couch next to Ronan, ignoring any need for space. They could figure out eating with one side plastered against each other. It was what lovers did. "Yes, sir," he said, playfully saluting him, before picking several things to start with, settling back to eat and watch the telly.

He smacked Ben's hip. "You have such brilliant ideas. I'm sure people will be waiting in line to buying it." Ronan laughed. "We're not going there; I swear." He turned serious after a moment, and nodded. "I said, yes. Don't worry."

"I know you aren't, but I don't like knowing that you're alone here. I know I'm paranoid," he said. "It's part of the job."

Ronan opened his arm and pulled Ban closer. He didn't care about the food as much, but he reached for the pork buns, leaving the shrimp and vegetable dishes for Ben. "I think I can get used to this."

"I do, don't I," he said, eyes flashing promisingly. His entire body reacted to the gentle smack, and he pushed it down. Food and talking first, then shagging. "I'm not worrying, promise." And he wasn't. If he were, there would be piles of baked goods in the kitchen, just moving in or not.

"I'm not home much more than you are, and I'll be fine here. You've made sure I'm as protected as I can be so now it's your turn to stop worrying, okay?"

He happily cuddled against Ronan, finding the closeness and warmth far more interesting than food. But he needed to eat, so made sure to take a good amount of the shrimp and vegetables. "Me too. It's nice, being just us."
