Re: James/Harry
Was he really worried that he'd fire him? Had he let his son think that he minded what he did that much? He might be worried, and there were times he worried if his son wouldn't find it difficult to back to normal after all of this, but to fire him? Still he smiled at the comment, as if it was just made in jest. "Granted that I like spending time with you outside of the office without work being involved, but I'm a long way from being so desperate that I'd fire you to be able to do it," he teased. "That's one worry you don't need to have," All said lightly and with a laugh, but he meant it all the same.
"Does he know you make more than him?" he then asked with a chuckle.
There was definitely more there than James was saying, and more than he'd picked up from Sirius yesterday, which made him wonder. Still short of telling his son he could talk to him about it if he wanted to, he wasn't sure what to say. The latter usually didn't help. "Well then I won't worry," he said instead. "Not that I did," he added with a smirk. "I have full faith that the two of you can figure out how to balance things just fine between you."
"If you should suddenly find yourself with a desperate need to talk to your father however, I dare say you know where to find me." He grinned, and hoped that James would understand what he was saying. It wasn't his business, he wouldn't ask, but if he felt like talking, he was there. All delivered without a serious 'talk to me' tone.
