"It's not the falling, it's the being up in the air," Allison clarified, sounding a bit prissier than she'd meant to out of embarrassment. She knew being scared of heights was irrational but it didn't make it any easier to be less afraid. "I don't like things I can't control."
Of course when Jamie dared her, she narrowed her eyes. She'd never been good at backing down from a challenge but she knew she wouldn't enjoy it. She really knew it.
"Mummy won't. She doesn't like it-"
"Mummy will," Allison said, deciding she didn't want to look cowardly. James's dare combined with a desire to look cool in front of her son had her trying to shove her fear into some locked corner of her mind. It didn't really work well though and her hands trembled finely. "Come on then. Who can look after Toby?"
