Something in James' tone caught Remus' attention and he wondered if the young man were truly as unaffected as his words would indicate, as his father had assumed. Or if, like a number of people in Remus' own generation, he had merely chosen to set those emotions aside and focus on the job -- consciously or unconsciously. Nodding acknowledgement, he let the subject go there.
Besides, he wasn't sure which was more disturbing, werewolf atrocities that had been an accepted part of his own past, or the thought of Severus Snape and Albus Potter having sex. "I don't think I really needed to know there was a possibility they are," he said with a dry huff. "But, I'll take your word about your brother's personality as I don't know him well at all. While I keep trying to get through to Peter, I can't argue the need for caution," he added with a sigh.
Remus was impressed with the insights James had into each of them and the way they interacted with magic. Although he had to laugh at the assessment of Moody. "Moody's arrogant as hell, I'll give you that. He has the skill to back it up, though. His code of conduct is what current vernacular might refer to as 'old school'. I probably get along with him more than most because I share a lot of the same values." Remus shrugged. He wasn't trying to convince James of Moody's benevolence. But, Moody was a friend, too.
"In any case, this isn't about Moody, but you. I'd say you're fairly spot on with your assessments of each of us. Of course, there are several factors that contribute to those methods. But, before we get into that, let me ask you this. Based on your observations of our interactions with magic, from the instinctive to the cerebral, can you guess where each of our strengths lie magically? Weaknesses? Purely based on observation."
