He just held her, murmuring useless platitudes and ignoring the lump in his own throat. Bridget had been nice, and fun, and he'd thought more than once about snogging her. And now she was dead.
"I know, Lil. I know," he said, hugging her tighter. There were little kids crying, but the Prefects and teachers were taking care of them, getting them all into the Great Hall. "Come on Lils, I need you to breathe okay? We're going to go into the Great Hall." He hated to have to leave Bridget's body, but there was already an Auror there, taking care of it.
She was doing that gasping for breath thing he hated, because it made him feel stupid and useless, unable to help. He managed to get her up on her feet though, and they moved into the Great Hall with the others. It was chaos in there, but he found them a relatively quiet corner and cast a silencing spell on the area around them. If he got in trouble for doing magic outside of classes, well he'd gladly take the detention.
"Lily, come on, look at me. Take deep breaths okay? Do you want me to get your Mum?"
