"Well," Al said. "It's a bit more complicated than chess. First, you define a character with several assigned numerical attributes. You can be a human or a halfling, or an elf, but not a house elf. Or you can be a dwarf, but not a Valentine singing one. Then you choose your class, like a Hogwarts House. Let's see," Al peered at the correct page, by first dropping the book stack on Peter's desk, and opening the necessary manuals for demonstration. "You can be a rogue, or a cleric, or a wizard - but that's the usual spellcasting, and it's pretty ordinary for a mage. You might prefer Muggle fighters. They're first in combat."
He looked up at Peter and grinned.
"And then you send your character on an adventure to slay dragons. And other creatures. Would you like to try? I've always played alone and it gets too complicated to control a party of four against a dragon when you're responsible for everything in the game."
