He let her words drown, because the world she was describing was on filled by animals who had no respect of human life, a world he never wanted to see. However, the possibility of getting close to Voldemort was too important to pass up.

He tensed the moment the familiar smell became noticeable. He raised his eyes and looked around the room, without stopping on Ben. He didn't want to put him at risk. Shit, he had to think fast.
He grabbed her hair and pulled her closer. "Someone I know," he whispered in her ear. "Work. Don't turn around. I don't want him to see you." He pulled back and kissed her, eyes wide open and staring at Ben, hoping that he'd get the message and leave.
