"You didn't know me at eleven when it would take them literally hours to get me to open up enough to laugh at a joke." Chuckling softly as he caught the eye-roll, Remus merely grinned. "The exception prefers his optimism to the world's defeatism."
Sighing, he shook his head. Stubborn Blacks. "I'm not saying it would or even that you shouldn't be bothered by it. But, how much have you been brooding about it that it makes you testy just at the mention of him in an unrelated context? I'm just concerned about you. That's all." Raising an eyebrow, he resisted the urge to sigh again. "If it was going to take a lot of convincing, I wouldn't have asked for your help to begin with.
"I don't think he expected anything less than exuberant congratulations, when that didn't happen, he didn't know how to react." Remus didn't think there was a snowball's chance in Hell of Sirius getting bored with James any time soon. Not if he was being soppy as he claimed. "This is going to sound horrible, but a part of me actually hopes James and Lily do the same thing this time around so he'll understand. I don't truly want him hurt, but...it would be poetic justice." Not that he thought there was a chance of Lily letting James get away with that.
It was Remus' turn to roll his eyes now. "Are you saying a Slytherin can't have fun with a friend?" he asked with a soft laugh. "Tell you what, indulge my Gryffindor fun and then next time you can 'drag' me into something a Slytherin would call fun."
