Re: Harry/James
"I'm afraid the talking didn't stop as he grew older, only got longer and more tedious," Harry said with a grin and he was still smiling when James went on.
"Yes it is, actually," he said. "I'm not talking about being good with spells, I'm talking about being the better human being. Outside of all of this, when it is all over when none of this matter, you will still be a better person than I am."
He smiled. "Dark magic, any dark magic, only comes naturally if you can tap into the worst parts of you - the homicidal fury if you wish," he said. "Having difficulty reaching those parts of you, having so much goodness inside you that it becomes difficult, that makes you a better person than me."
"As for making the training go better, I'll help, if you want me to."
It was when James told him Snape should write a book that he truly started to laugh. It was impossible not to laugh, and it was nice to laugh with James again. "You don't even know how right you are," he chuckled. "In my sixth year, I was handed a used copy of a potions text book since I hadn't had the chance to buy my own copy. It was filled with notes, changes, comments to the text, spells in the margin - I learnt more from that book than five years of Snape as a teacher. Incidentally it was his book and his notes."
