Re: Harry/James
"Him being seventeen and looking human definitely helps," Harry said with a smile. "But most would still run in fear if they met him. You're incredibly brave, James, you need to realise that." He chuckled. "And yes you got wicked aim," he admitted fondly.
As he listened to Jamie tell him about his training, the knot that had been in his stomach for days - even weeks - finally loosened and a relief as tangible as the feeling of drinking warm tea spread through his chest. Partly, because Jamie was trusting him with the information, partly because right then he knew how much of a better person than he James was. How much better he was likely to always be. James was having trouble with a spell he'd been able to cast on a real person the first time he'd tried it. And with that, his biggest worry and fear, that James was too much like him, vanished.
"You are, by far, a better person than I could ever hope of being. Than I have ever been." he said softly. "And I am so sorry that I let my own fears and terrors get in the way of seeing that. That I did not more faith in your character and your judgement," he said.
"And yes, Snape sucks as a teacher," he said with a laugh. "He really does. You are doing so well, in such a short time. It's more than impressive. Don't let him push you too hard, and if you ever need help to sort out what he refuses to explain, you know where to find me."
