"I know." Charlie sighed, because Bill was right - he hadn't exactly thought this one through yet, and when you said it like that, it sounded pretty damn stupid of him. "But if I do it this way, then I do it on my own terms. I'm not letting some kid push me out of a job I've been doing longer than he's been alive."
"And besides I'm not that old yet, I can give this teaching thing a go and see how I like it, and if it becomes completely unbearable there are always other reserves." And that was true, but really if he wanted to stay in the country the Welsh Reserve was his only choice. "I'm not sure I'm ready to leave the country just yet," He'd grown used to being back in England after the second war - being near his family again, and he wasn't sure he was ready to just leave them all behind again the way he'd done when he was younger.
"I suppose I could always go back to Romania though, if things got really desperate."
