Harry smiled. "A bit of both?" he asked. "And no, it's not just a house. We built it, to raise you in and-" He looked around the room. "Your brother fell and knocked out a tooth over there," he said. "And I took you flying when you were too young to even walk in the garden, scared your grandmother half to death while you were shrieking with laughter."
"It's more than a house, it's a home, James. And Hogwarts was once my home, but now it can't be. But I can live there all the same because I belong where your mother is." He took a breath, then sat down, gesturing to Jamie to do the same.
"And here I thought you were the one to tell me that you didn't want us to speak privately at work," he said. "I'm trying to heed your request, hence I didn't tell you this at the office." He smiled when James went on.
"So you finally figured that one out then," he chuckled. "Good. Now does that mean it's a relationship yet? Really I need to know when it's all right to start thinking of him as my son-in-law rather than my god-father," he teased. Not that he didn't already, but that was another matter.
