Al beamed and reached up, using all of his height to scratch the side of the eagle owl's beak.
His other hand lifted too, in a mirrored gesture, but he caught it in time to stammer - "Er," - and stuck his hand back in its respective pocket.
"I stashed away an absurd amount of coffee beans for the winter," Al smiled. "I couldn't've passed my OWLs or my NEWTs without them. I've got all kinds at home: caramel, chocolate, cinnamon, plain, and pickled. But these are all leftover from - um, well, before." He took the entire bag of remaining beans out of his pocket and offered them to Snape. "You'd better keep them before I break both: my sugar and my caffeine restriction when I'm only seventy percent into the duration of our experiment."
