Harry shook his head. "No, I didn't mean James. He told me too, but he would lie without hesitation if he thought it was something I didn't approve of."
"I meant that Snape promised me to," he said. "He knows the damage it does to a soul, he promised me to try and protect him, and to watch out for the signs. He advised me of the same thing."
He held Ginny tighter. "I know. I tried to tell him, explain to him, show him even, what I was like then. He wouldn't listen. He called me a hypocrite for not wanting him to do what I did and refused to see what I became."
Catching Ginny's hand with his own, he twined their fingers together. "It has nothing to do with age, and everything to do with the fact that he is our son, and neither of us have influence enough over him to stop him should he choose to go down that road." He sighed, but he knew he had to tell her everything.
"I told Snape, and Dumbledore too, that if anyone has to kill Voldemort - I'll rather it be my soul than anyone elses that gets sacrificed."
