Harry looked at her, trying to figure out how she'd gone to a leak, but his nearly asleep state meant that it took time for his mind to work that far. "Oh no," he said shaking his head. "He used legilimancy on the Aurors and Hit-wizards before he killed them. Veritaserum on the Unspeakables. The only reason we know how much he knows is because he left four of them alive."
"They're still at the hospital," he added. "And I don't blame either of them for the information they divulged. It's not their fault." It was his for agreeing to hand out the schedule to Voldemort. It was him who had once more got people killed. Wasn't that what James had said he did? The worst part about it was that he was right. His parents, Sirius, Remus, Tonks, Fred, Colin who only responded to the coin call because he had once started the DA... And now eight Hit-wizard and Aurors and Unspeakables who had done nothing but been at Hogwarts because he'd ordered them to without letting them know that someone had the schedule for a third of them.
He sank onto the bed, closing his eyes. "The board of Governors," he answered almost on automatic. "Dumbledore supports it too," he added. He only looked up because he heard the emotion in her voice.
"Things are different now," he said softly. "He's no longer a spy, he no longer needs to pretend. He won't let people like the Carrows gain control over the school and aside from Dumbledore or myself, he is the one person who can likely keep Voldemort at bay."
"Dumbledore doesn't want the job, he says he's too old. Snape is the only option."
