At least that got some sort of a reaction out of her than merely ignoring them or walking away.
The swipe with her paw wasn't enough to truly hurt him or move him much, his size being the much larger one. He took one step away from her, but continued to pace her. If she was reacting out of her own need to be distant, that was one thing. But, if she was using the physical distance from him to put a mental distance between herself and the wolf, that was what he wanted to nip in the bud early.
Solitary nature he could understand. Fear would be detrimental to her.
He wouldn't push if he didn't need to. But, he needed to be certain he didn't need to first.
