Re: Remus - Regulus
"One should plan for the unexpected," Regulus pointed out, which was one of the differences between their houses. "One should also not be shocked that people have manners," he said, not having missed Remus' look of surprise. "You'll be a lot more fine with cashmere around you. It really makes life easier."
Regulus looked out while he listened to everything Remus said, but he didn't answer immediately, turning the story in his head a few times, because it was very easy to take only the parts that one wanted in cases like this.
"That darkness you saw, was it the beast? Or was it you? Beast and man together?" he asked after a moment. "You're talking about the prey, about hurting an animal, but werewolves don't hurt animals, right? That's why Sirius was safe, because he was in his animagus form. We like to hurt... anything, really, but not the werewolf. He just wants to hurt human beings."
He turned his head to look at Remus, and once again they were a lot closer than proper, but Regulus had bigger thoughts in his head. "I'm just wondering if you wanted that to be the werewolf, but it's just a representation of the darkness that it's you, man and werewolf together." He patted Remus' knee. "I think you're trying to make that division that people like so much, but it sounds like you aren't that much different than the rest of us, lightness and darkness. You've just learnt to hide your darkness a lot better."
