Gellert turned to Albus, finding a reason to smile for the first time today in the hand that was on his arm. A reminder of the sacrifice Albus paid to save the soul of the darkest wizard the world had known.
"Part of redemption is knowing the pain that I caused so many," he said as tears swelled in the corner of his eyes, and yet that faint smile was still there.
"And this time, you will not be alone," he took Albus' hand into his own, unconcerned about who might see them. "I will be by your side until the end."
"Might I interest you in a bit of shopping?" He quirked an eyebrow. "I hear wand shops are quite the place to be this time of year."
