OWL: To the Board of Governors Who: Percy Weasley, Theodore Nott, Astoria Malfoy, and the Board of Governors Where: Here and There When: Monday, December 7, 2024 Warnings: none Summary: Percy recommends Remus Lupin for employment at Hogwarts.
To: The Board of Governors of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry From: Percival I. Weasley, Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation and Minister-of-Magic In-Waiting Subject: A Recommendation Letter for Remus Lupin
Dear Madame Malfoy and the honorable members of the Board of Governors of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry,
It is with sound mind that I recommend Remus Lupin be employed at Hogwarts as the professor for Defense Against the Dark Arts. While he was not my favorite professor, he was my favorite professor for this particular subject manner. He has a rare gift for teaching students, challenging them to meet ever loftier goals, and modeling the notion that no matter the obstacles we encounter we have a duty to perform.
I also encourage you to consider the political benefit to Mr. Lupin's hiring. With the recent werewolf attacks and the return of Tom Riddle Lord Voldemort, it is more important than ever that we show the werewolf population that if they take certain steps (such as the use of wolfsbane and confinement during the Full Moon), then they can be a welcomed part of wizarding society. A werewolf among the professors of the most prestigious wizarding school in the world would re-emphasize that message.
It is my sincere belief that Mr. Lupin -- should you find his credentials adequate -- would teach Hogwarts' students our finest traditions, reinforce in them a sense of service and duty to their wizarding community, and bring honor to the school.
