Remus met James' gaze silently, weighing the young man's words against the sincerity in his eyes. This was a subject he couldn't be anywhere near as optimistic about as he was most things. His own history was still too close to his present for him to fully believe in the betterment of the werewolf lot in this age. But, he could believe in men like James and his father.
He gave a single nod of his head in acknowledgement and said, "I'll take it on your faith for now." Whether he ever gained his own would have to be seen.
"Can't they?" he asked with a wry chuckle. "They won't be all over you about what you're lying about, maybe. But, do you expect me to believe they're not all over you to tell them what's going on because they don't know?"
As James' attention turned back to Pads, Remus merely smiled and watched them both in comfortable silence -- Sirius, to be sure Ron didn't goad him into anything stupid. James, just because it made Remus happy to see that someone cared about his friend this much. And, that said someone was someone Remus genuinely liked was so much more icing.
