"Just a tad," Dylan laughed, because really it was the understatement of the year. "And no miracles? I'm so disappointed. Couldn't tell about being cursed, but he certainly seemed like himself, buried in papers and all."
And why was it that he could never lie to James? He really had no problem lying to random girls he shagged, so why was it that as soon as he cared even a little bit he completely failed at it?
"I blame Cass for that one," he said. "Living with a human lie detector kind of makes you give up trying," he said with a grin, because that was the easy part of the question. As for the second...well he simply couldn't tell James the real reason. For one saying that he felt left out and was sick of it was pathetic, but mostly he really wanted James to enjoy his party. So instead he shrugged. "Too many people and no one to shag?" he joked instead. "I had planned on escaping to Eros, actually," which was perfectly true. Fucking someone would help him get out of this funk he found himself in. Back to his normal care-free self who would go to Jamie's parties because they were his parties and not worry about it because who cared? Right?
"Come on," he said, bumping Jamie with his shoulder. "You'll be swamped with people anyway, so it's not like you'll notice me being elsewhere. You won't have a moment to breathe all night." Which was also true.
