OWL/RP: Remus to Sirius Who: Remus Lupin, Sirius Black Where: Place to Place as the correspondence takes them When: Monday, 30 November, 2024, early morning Rating/Warnings: Summary: Remus needs to talk to Sirius about family and friends.
Remus had not been able to stop thinking about what James Sirius had said about Sirius feeling left out of things, not feeling as connected to the other Marauders. It was an odd idea to Remus who had already been preparing to be the odd man out himself because of the longstanding closeness between Prongs and Padfoot that he had simply never been included in. He still didn't think it mattered that they were closer to each other than to him. But, it mattered if Sirius didn't feel included by either of them.
He would have pulled his friend aside the day before to talk to him, reassure him. Remus didn't care if it was supposed to be a reminder for after James Sirius was dead. First, he was still holding on to firm hope for a cure. Second, if Sirius was feeling left out, James Sirius really had nothing to do with it other than being the one to point it out to Remus. Whether the young man lived or died shouldn't matter to the state of a friendship that had lasted for years -- and if he died, Remus thought Sirius would be better able to come to his friends for comfort if this was settled now.
Of course, then the boys had been cured and Remus couldn't bring himself to pull Sirius away from whatever celebrations he and James Sirius were having.
At least, not at first. But, just because the boy was no longer dying didn't mean the issue of Sirius didn't need to be addressed. Not wanting to leave the situation to fester as things had in the past, Remus saw to it an owl was winging its way to his friend before he even started morning training on Monday.
Pads,
I know you most likely want to spend some time with James Sirius now that he's cured. I won't interrupt. But, when you have a moment, can we talk, you and me?
