"I know, just sucks that I can't help him," he said with a small frown. "I've always wanted to look out for him but it's the one thing I can't help with."
He looked at his watch and sighed. "I guess I should get going. I'll try and drop in tomorrow too if I can," he said, not voicing the thought of if you're still here that suddenly plagued him.
Forcing a smile he didn't feel onto his voice, he said his goodbyes and left the room, wondering if it was the last time he'd see James - and even Dylan - alive. The thought made him tear up and he was quick to leave the house, determined that nobody would see him like this and transfer any attention to him. He knew that James deserved all of it and then some.
