Re: Moony & "the Boys" (and anyone still about)
Had he known the young man's thoughts, Remus could have assured him no grass would be growing under his feet before he spoke to Sirius. He wasn't sure when, but he wasn't waiting for the boys to be cured first. He'd find Pads in this crowd and the two of them would sit down and have a long chat about brothers and bonds that shouldn't ever break.
"I'd have to agree you are," Remus sighed with a chagrined smile. He guessed he could accept defeat on the issue of hope vs. dwelling on things for now, especially when it was becoming clearer with each breath how close this young man had grown to the man Remus considered one of his brothers. Because he was listening very carefully to what James Sirius was saying, he was able to hear the emotion in the pause before the young man finished.
When he did, Remus shifted so he could place both hands lightly on James Sirius' shoulders, as close to the hug he'd given Sirius the night before as he was likely to come with most other people, and James Sirius only because they were family.
"I will make sure he does. I promise." Unable to stand the maudlin turn of conversation any longer, Remus grinned mischievously. "And I'll wait until you're cured to give you the lecture about breaking his heart and I'll break you."
