Remus raised an eyebrow at that. Sirius didn't think he was family? Sirius Black felt like the odd man out? That was supposed to be Remus. Sirius and James were a unit. And, then there was Remus. That was how it had always been.
The future really was screwed to hell if Sirius didn't think he was still family to Remus or James.
And unfortunately, he couldn't argue with logic like that. Remus still thought it was better not to dwell on a possible future that may not ever come. But, he couldn't fault James for taking care of his family. Hell, he couldn't even say he wouldn't do the same thing in the young man's place.
"You know I can't argue that," he said finally. "So, you tell me what you need done. I'll promise to do it, even if I don't believe it'll ever be necessary. That goes for you too," he concluded, looking at Dylan.
