Re: Moony & "the Boys" (and anyone still about)
"Oy, you're the one who likes the optimistic stuff. Fine, you really were a lousy teacher, but since the other ones tried to kill him, he liked you, and now he just wants you there so you can keep an eye on Nott." He looked at Dylan and winked at him, before turning to Remus. "Is that better?"
He frowned for a moment. "So why does he think that you wouldn't enjoy helping him out? And I'm not talking just riding it, but actually getting it ready to fly, yeah?" He smiled at Dylan. "Of course, it's a brilliant idea. It's mine. All my ideas are brilliant."
James turned to Remus. "Sirius thinks of you and James as his best friends, even if you two have your own families now," he said, picking his words carefully. "It'd be nice if someone reminded him that friends and family aren't mutually exclusive. They are different, but both important." Hopefully the words would remind Sirius of their discussion and his promise to enjoy life.
He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. "Remus, I have slept a few hours. Sirius has barely slept at all with all the attacks I've had. I'm taking everything they want me to, but it's getting harder and harder to rebound from each new attack. It's more like a day than two. There's just no time, and Sirius is important to me, and I know that you can say the same, and this isn't a pissing context about who cares more, but I've spent weeks with him, more than anyone else, and I know all that he's supposed to do, all that he wants to do, and I want to make sure that he does it and doesn't get killed trying to avenge me. So no, planning does me a lot of good."
