After the second attack Sirius didn't go back to sleep - he didn't think he would have been able to even if he wanted. He did lay with James though, ready to hand out potions when necessary and later to use the watch to get the right people to the house to keep James from bleeding out. It was the least restful night he'd had since he's come back.
"That, I think, is putting it mildly." He shook his head slowly unable to really manage a smile as they both tried to joke even a little. It was harder now, when it seemed like it was just a matter of time before James would have another attack.
He stroked his thumb across James' cheek, just soaking in the feeling of him beside him, curled around him. And he pressed a kiss against James' forehead - maybe Regulus had been right, maybe the Potters always did hurt him, and yet he couldn't seem to make himself regret even one minute he'd spent with any of them. "Think you're going to be putting on the same sort of show today?" He asked quietly, still trying to joke.
