Ginny and Jamie
A bit later, after Dylan had gone, presumably, to get settled in, Jamie would have yet another visitor: his mother.
"Hey," she said softly.
Ginny was looking at him with a mixture of sorrow, fondness and guilt. She hovered slightly, still giving him space. If she were her own mother, she would have smothered him already. But she wasn't, and her self-confidence had recently taken a hit where her sons were concerned.
Still, she pressed on. "I'm sorry," she said. There was no doubt Ginny's remorse was genuine. "I let my temper get the best of me. Worse, I let my pride. There's no excuse for that, especially since I know better."
"I'm not the nicest person, sometimes, or the best mother," she admitted. Ginny looked directly at him when she said this, offering another wordless apology.
