Hyperly aware of his surroundings because of his training mindset, Remus heard James and smelled the food before he got too close. Ignoring the other man's approach, he completed his wand gesture without pause, the Reducto taking out a target just in front of James. Then banished the floating charm and holstered his wand.
"Anyone who believes you'd surrender deserves what they get," he snorted, reaching for the long-sleeved T-shirt he'd left laying over the low wall at the base of the stairs from the house. It was cooler, with his metabolism, to train without it. But, he couldn't quite get comfortable just sitting around, even with James, without the security and camoflage it provided him.
"Wasn't expecting you to leave your room so soon," he continued with a grin, seating himself on the self-same wall and waving for James to join him. "Possibly not for days."
The food was appreciated, though. Remus had skipped breakfast, not wanting to intrude on the family time. It wasn't the first time he'd stayed out in the garden to train instead of eat, of course. But, he usually didn't miss lunch when he did.
