RP: This is wrong...
Who: Lily, Gideon, NPC Auror, later James, Harry and others?
Where: Hogwarts, St. Mungo's
When: November 19, 2024 (early morning hours)
Rating/Warnings: All Ages
Summary: She shouldn't be here.
This was all wrong. Lily looked around with shock, recognizing the turrets of Hogwarts, the green of the Quidditch Pitch. But it was wrong. She should be in bed with her husband, their child sleeping peacefully across the hall. Not at the edge of the Forbidden Forest in nothing but her nightgown. She shivered, the thin material no match for the cool, late autumn air.
How had she gotten here? It didn't make sense. Had James activated a Portkey? Had Dumbledore, somehow, sent for her? If so, why hadn't either of them told her? And where was James? And Harry? They should be here, with her, if things had gone to hell. Unless...no. She wouldn't think of that. There was an explanation. There had to be. People just didn't appear at Hogwarts for no reason. Whatever was going on, Dumbledore would be able to tell her.
She started towards the castle, startled and not a little bit scared to realize she was barefoot and wandless. That more than anything made her feel vulnerable, naked. She shivered and wrapped her arms around her torso to attempt to ward off the wind; pressed forward relentlessly. The sooner she got to Dumbledore, the sooner she could get home to her husband and son. That was all she allowed herself to think of as she made her way to the castle.
It was quiet, the halls silent. There were no out of bounds students, no early rising professors. It was...wrong. Something wasn't right. There were paintings on the wall she didn't remember, and the silence was almost oppressing. She heard a sound behind her, and turned, wondering if the House Elves had told Dumbledore she was here.
It wasn't Dumbledore though.
"Gideon?" she asked, frozen. "But...you're dead." There was another man with him, one she didn't recognize. Her mind racing even as her body stayed frozen, ready to spring into action at any hint of threat. She may not have a wand, but James and Sirius had made sure she knew how to defend herself without one.
A million scenarios were whirling through her mind, each of them more absurd than the last. The man in front of her couldn't be Gideon Prewett, because he was dead. Unless he wasn't, and it had all been one of Dumbledore's many gambits in the war against Voldemort. She wouldn't put it past him, to have some sort of secret mission that required everyone think the twins were dead. But then, where was Fabian? She couldn't think of a time she'd ever seen one without the other.
"Whoever you are, tell me what's going on immediately." She used the firm tone of voice that always had even Sirius shut up and pay attention. It was her Head Girl Voice, according to James. "And where is Professor Dumbledore?"
