Memo: Molly Weasley II
Who: Justin and Molly II
Where: The Ministry
When: November 18, 2024
Warnings: none
Summary: Justin has a question
Status: Complete

Sitting at his desk, Justin scratched the back of his head, then pulled out a piece of parchment and reached for his quill. He and Molly had been having lunch together nearly every day for a week, and he was really enjoying his talks with her. It didn't hurt that she was quite beautiful.

But she was also young, and the daughter of a colleague. He'd made the mistake of falling into the trap of someone beautiful before, and he'd promised himself he never would again. He and Molly were friends. And there was no harm in sharing lunch with a friend. So why did he feel so strange while writing her the note?

Molly,

My House Lady, Jacqueline, is planning on making Coc Au Vin for dinner tonight. It's a delicious French dish, and one of her specialties. I was wondering if you would mind terribly if I packed a double serving in my lunch tomorrow, one for me, and one for you? I do enjoy our lunch time talks together, and I think you might like the cooking.

Sincerely,
Justin Finch-Fletchley
Department Head of Magical Transportation

Folding the paper up, he tapped it with his wand and sent it on his way, then sat for a moment before pulling out a file on a Floo connection marked for closure. He had to get some work done eventually.

She was juggling a large stack of books with magic, putting the tomes in their proper place when an interoffice memo found its way on top of the next book to be shelved.

Molly looked at the memo first with annoyance - another piece of parchment. Great, just what she needed. It was probably some silly announcement - junk memos that she tended to toss away after a quick scan.

When the memo unfolded, however, she picked it up and read it carefully. A smile began and grew wider as she read.

Justin,

I wouldn't want you to make anything or have your House Lady make anything more than necessary. However, if she always makes more than enough for you and your daughter then I would very much enjoy sampling something like that for lunch tomorrow.

Regards,
Molly Weasley

He'd just signed off on the closure of a Floo connection that hadn't been used in two months when the memo came flying back into his office. He smiled as he opened it up and read the works in her delicate handwriting.

Molly,

Don't worry about Jacqueline cooking. She always makes more than we need, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Thank you for accepting my offer. I shall have a plate heated and waiting for you when lunch begins.

Sincerely,
Justin Finch-Fletchley
