Draco sighed heavily and then stood when he heard the door open. He returned Dumbledore's smile and walked toward him with his hand outstretched.
"Headmaster," he wasn't sure if the title was still appropriate, but he would go with that for now. "It is very good to see you, sir. Thank you."
Draco wasn't sure whether they should sit or stand for the conversation. For the moment, he was comfortable enough standing. Well, as comfortable as one could be under these circumstances.
"But I am the one who owes you the apology," Draco didn't let his eyes move from Dumbledore's face. He intentionally chose to drop his occlumency-defenses. He needed Dumbledore to know the apology was sincere and not just for Scorpius' sake. "The last time I saw you, I was trying to murder you."
He had to force the last words out of his mouth. He had tried to forget that night, he had tried to banish it from his memory, and he had succeeded for so long. But the past week had undone that, and once more Draco had come face-to-face with his actions.
