Scorpius walked over and took a drink from the tray that floated by. His mother and grandmother had outdone themselves as usual, and the decor was elegant. He wished that he felt better, but he would get through the night. He again wondered when he wouldn't be able to enjoy it anymore.
He had to admit, the layout of the manor was perfect for hosting parties. There were times when the giant rooms could be very quiet, but that is why he preferred the living areas on the upper floors. Walking through the Great Hall, he picked up a toffee apple. His mum knew that he liked those and he wondered if they were there because of that fact.
He took a bite, savoring the taste as he stood by one of the fires. He wasn't in the most festive of moods, giving over to a quieter and more reserved attitude. The curse was hitting too close to home. He turned his back to most of the crowd and enjoyed watching the flames dance.
