If James--and really, it was a shame how uncreative Harry had been when it came to naming his children, at least his son--was hoping to insult Peter, or hurt his feelings, by referring to him as a thing, he would be severely disappointed. The boy really had to learn the art of insulting people, because it was very ineffective. At least to someone who had grown up with Sirius and James.
