RP: Just folding laundry
Who: Angie and Roxie
Where: The Meadows
When: November 2, 2024 - Afternoon/Eveningish
Summary: Angie's folding laundry, and has bonding time with her daughter.
Warnings: none
Status: Complete

Humming softly to herself, Angie went through the basket of clean clothes sitting in front of her on the living room floor, trying to find a match to one of George's socks. He had so many, but she needed to match them up, and it was taking forever, it always did.

Roxie came out of her room and wandered into the living room. She'd been planning on grabbing a snack from the kitchen, but had instead walked into the living room when she heard her mum's humming.

"Hi Mum."

Angie looked up when she heard her daughter's voice and smiled. "Hello, love," she said, holding up a sock. "Would you like to join me?"

"Sure", she said again smiling. Walking over to her mum and the basket, she pulled a shirt out of the basket and began to fold it. This was nice she decided. Roxie hadn't spent a lot of time with her mum lately and she missed it. She wouldn't say anything specific about the conversation she had with Alex, but maybe she could get a few answers for herself.

"So," she began, finally finding a match to the sock in her hand and putting them together. "I feel like we haven't talked in a while. And I know things have been tense lately, but that's no reason for me to be ignoring my daughter."

Sending Roxie a smile, she reached into the basket for more socks. "How are things going, love?"

Nodding, Roxie reached for the next piece of clothing in the basket. Automatically, she began to fold it finding that having something for hands to do while she talked helped.

"Things are ok" she started, gathering her thoughts. "Classes are good, and I'd like to be able to get out on the pitch more, but I understand why I can't for safety." Shrugging, she continued "It's just frustrating is all. How are you?"

"It is a shame about Quidditch," Angie said. "But if you'd like, we could go flying sometime. It'll help you stay in form, and I'm sure your father would enjoy it too. Maybe even some of your Uncles. Fred, George, Harry, Ginny and I were all on the team together at Hogwarts. I'm sure if we asked nicely we could get them and some of the cousins to play a pick up game or two. It might be fun."

Matching the socks in her hand, she pulled out a pair of pants, one of Alex's, and laid it out to fold. "I understand the frustration," she continued. "The alternative physical education program is taking off nicely, but I miss getting out on a broom. Almost makes me wish I'd never retired for playing professionally." She grinned then. "But if I didn't, you and your brother would never have been born, and I wouldn't wish that for the world."

She leaned over then, and kissed her daughter's forehead, not caring that she was continually being the sappy, doting mother. Lately she'd just had the urge to hold her children whenever she could, tell them she loved them and such. She didn't mind it though. She really did love her kids.

"That would be brilliant!" Roxie said grinning. "I'd love a pick up game, I'd imagine that some of the Gryffindor team would like to play too." she added, already thinking about asking them when she saw them.

"I guess it is better than nothing" she replied thinking about the program they put in recently. "Though there's nothing quite like flying for fun or to let go of stress." Roxie added. "Maybe we could go flying then sometime, might not be the same as playing professionally, but still fun."

Roxie grinned when her mother kissed her. She might be fifteen, but there were times when she wanted to be hugged and cuddled. Just not in front of potential boyfriends or anything like that.

"I'll talk to your father and the adults about it soon," she said, getting excited herself. She loved Quidditch, and hadn't played in what felt like forever.

"But in the mean time, I would love to flying with you, sweetheart. It would be fun," she grinned. "We'll go round the property, and maybe I can teach you a few tricks I remember."

"Thank you!" she replied, chuckling a little at her Mum's enthusiasm. "I'll have to remember to ask around when I go to school next."

Nodding her agreement, Roxie reached for her next piece of clothing. "I'd like that, we haven't done that in awhile." Smiling, she added "I'll be looking forward to it."

"Do that, and let me know who all is interested, even if they just want to watch. Hogwarts might be able to stop Quidditch for safety reasons, but you can't get much safer than your own backyard, right?"

"Absolutely. And if something did happen, Merlin knows that we have enough aurors in the family to fend people off." she said laughing.

Turning to face her mum, Roxie thought for a moment before continuing to speak. "You've always said we could talk to you about anything right?"

Angie smiled with her daughter, then frowned. "If course you can talk to me about anything," she said, putting down the shirt in her hand, so she could pay closer attention to her daughter. "Roxie, what's wrong?"

Roxie shrugged, not really sure how to go about it. Continuing to fold whatever was in her lap at the moment, she finally set it aside before answering. "It's just that you and Dad are fighting a lot and well, I'm worried. I think Alex is too, but I'd doubt he say anything." she paused before carefully saying "We worry because it doesn't seem like things have been going well and no one tells us anything really." After all, Roxie was fairly certain most parents didn't like being asked about their relationship by their kids.

Angie nodded and then smiled, reaching over to touch her daughter's arm. "Don't worry, sweetheart. Everything is fine. Your father has just been very stressed lately. With Uncle Fred coming back and things being the way they are, he's just a bit on edge. We all are. But the arguments are nothing to fight about."

She hadn't really thought she and George had been fighting all that often. There were a few arguments since the day Fred returned, but since then things had gone down. Though it was rare for the two of them fight at all, so maybe those fights so close together had their children worried."
