Alex felt a hand on his ankle, then a flop of someone beside him, but he lay still for a moment longer. He didn't really want to talk, or think, but he knew the weight on the bed was his mother and she wasn't going to give up.
He pulled the earbuds free and dropped the player off the bed, but didn't come out of the pillow.
"I don't know," he said after a moment. The world was going crazy, couldn't she see that? "I just don't feel like being around."
