So there it was. The open question. What did he want to know? There were so many things, and yet... He was worried.
"Did you know my parents well?" he asked. "What were they like? Together I mean. I heard so many stories about my father and mother separately, when they were younger, but not so many about what they were like after they got together."
"What was their dreams and hopes?" He smiled. "I'm asking too much of you, I apologise." He took a sip of his tea, not sure what else to say or ask though. In the end the question he wanted answered was how would my life had been had they lived? He knew that no one could answer that one though.
