Patrick hadn't understood the need for a car. He could Apparate from his house like he had done every night - or just about - since finishing school. He didn't get the need for alcohol and a car, when he could be inside the club, but since Marcus had insisted, he didn't think it was important enough to argue about.
When he got there, the music was blazing inside. There were some people arguing at the door, but then there were always people trying to get in when they shouldn't, and he paid no mind to the discussion. He went to the door, and was let in as usual, although the red carpet wasn't usual, and he was pretty sure that he was blushing, because Marcus was really going over the top. It was just a birthday after all.
Things changed quickly though. The music stopped abruptly, and when he entered the main room, nothing was as usual. Patrick stopped, surprised and amazed at what Marcus had pulled off. It wasn't just the number of people in there, but the fact that the club looked completely different and awesome at the same time.
Patrick's eyes settled on Marcus and smiled back, before going to him. When they got closer, Patrick wrapped his arms around Marcus' waist and kissed him. "Thank you," he said while his lips were still touching Marcus'. "This is so over the top and I love it."
